Geoffrey Wilberforce Pearson joined the Royal Air Force on 23 December 1938 at the age of 19 years, and joined No. 501 Squadron at Kenley on 26 August 1940. He failed to return from combat over the Ashford area on the 6th September, when his Hurricane, P 3516, crashed at Cowleas Farm, near Kempton Manor, Hothfield, and he was killed. He is buried in St Stephen’s churchyard, Lympne, Kent.
