Second Lieutenant Frank Watts Barnes a native of Birmingham, worked as an automobile engineer before the war and is noted on his service papers as having experience of internal combustion engines whilst on the staff of B.S.A. Austin, Star and Daimler. His flying duties commenced on 5 August 1918, qualifying as an instructor on 7 October 1918. Sold with 3 copied pages of service detail.
