Dudley Gordon Alan Duckworth-King was born in London on 28 November 1851, son of Admiral Sir George Duckworth-King, K.C.B., 4th Baronet. He was educated at Sandhurst and entered the army as an Ensign in the 69th Regiment on 27 July 1870, becoming Lieutenant in October 1871 and Captain in April 1878. He was seconded to the Commissariat and Transport Staff in Egypt and served with the expedition to Suakin in 1885, as Captain and Acting Deputy Commissary General (Medal with clasp; bronze star). He succeeded his father in 1891, becoming the 5th Baronet, and was later appointed Honorary Colonel of the 1st Volunteer Battalion Devonshire Regiment. He was also J.P. and D.L. for Devon, and in 1907 was appointed Sherrif of the county. He died on 14 February 1909. Sold with further research including a copy of a group photograph taken in 1895.
