Sydney Loftus Robinson was born in June 1860, and entered the 93rd Foot from the Militia in July 1879. He served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India, under Sir William Lockhart, with the Tochi Field Force. He landed with his battalion in South Africa in November 1899, was present at the battle of Modder River, and died of wounds received in action at Magersfontein, 11 December 1899.
