Knight Bachelor’s Badge, 2nd type breast badge, silver-gilt and enamels, in its Royal Mint case of issue; 1914-15 Star (1662 Pte., E. Kent R.); British War and Victory Medals (Capt.); Coronation 1937; Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (240421 Pte., 1/5 E. Kent R.-T.F.) together with Musician’s Guild silver medal, the reverse named (Sir John H. S. Richardson, 22nd April 1947) mounted on ribbon in its Royal Mint case of issue, good very fine (7) £350-400

M.S.M. London Gazette 29 August 1917 ‘for valuable services rendered with the Armies in the Field, in Mesopotamia.’

John Henry Swain Richardson was born on 18 June 1889. He served during the Great War in Mesopotamia and India with the 5th Buffs and XIth Rajputs. Senior Deputy Chairman, Andrew Yule & Co. Ltd., East India Merchants, 1936-41; Vice-President, Bengal Chamber of Commerce, 1939, and President, 1940; President Associated Chambers of Commerce of India, 1940; Member, Council of State, Government of India, 1939-41; Member, Legislative Assembly, Government of India, and Leader, European Group, 1942-45; Chairman, British National Films Co. Ltd., and National Studios Ltd., Elstree. Sir Henry Richardson was created Knight Bachelor in 1941 and died on 28 July 1980.
