Colour Sergeant H. Grover, “Old Harry”, was mentioned in Lord Roberts’ final despatches ‘for good and meritorious service.’ He is listed as serving with the Mounted Infantry in South Africa and was awarded the L.S. & G.C. in July 1902. He subsequently joined the Volunteers at Cranbrook and served in the Benenden Company.
