Case No. 42,314. John Reading, Apprentice Seaman (aged 15) rescued R. W. Emerson (aged 16) from the sea off Margate on 24th February 1916. Emerson who cannot swim, fell overboard. Moderate swell. Very cold. Vessel at anchor. Reading at once went in and supported him until a boat reached them. Case sent by the Deputy Master, Trinity House. Bronze Medal (successful) to Reading.
