East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Witu 1890 (Sub-Lieut. R. M. Lambert, H.M.S. Redbreast) very fine £140-180

Randal Methven Lambert was born on 29 June 1868, son of Lieutenant R. Lambert, Royal Naval Artillery Volunteers. He joined the Navy in March 1884 as Midshipman and became Sub-Lieutenant in October 1888. He was Sub-Lieutenant of Redbreast and served in the Naval Brigade landed under the command of Vice-Admiral Sir E. R. Fremantle, K.C.B., C.M.G., Commander-in-Chief in the East Indies Station, for the punitive expedition against the Sultan of Vitu, in East Africa, October 1890 (Medal with clasp). Randal became Lieutenant in January 1892, Commander in June 1904, and died on 31 August of the same year. Three officers and 44 men from Redbreast received the medal for Witu 1890. Sold with copy record of service.
