William Harfield was born in Cheriton, Hampshire, lived in Liss and enlisted at London. Serving as a Sapper with the Railway Operating Division of the Royal Engineers, he died in Egypt on 7 November 1918, aged 34 years. He was buried in the Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery.
