Serjeant Douglas McOwan, 5th Battalion London Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war in 1914. Commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion on 28 September 1915 and advanced to Temporary Lieutenant on 15 September 1916 and was confirmed in that rank on 1 July 1917. He resigned his commission due to ill health on 27 June 1919. Awarded the T.E.M. in November 1923.
