The original grant of the squadron badge for ‘No. 280 Squadron’, hand-illuminated badge and motto, as painted by an artist of the College of Arms, dated April 1944, and signed by the Chester Herald and Inspector of Royal Air Force Badges, J. Heaton-Armstrong, and H.M. King George VI, in excellent condition £100-150

No. 280 Squadron was formed at Thorney Island in December 1941 as an air-sea rescue unit. Moving to Detling with its Hudsons in early 1942, it carried out regular sorties off the coasts of the south-east and East Anglia, and was re-equipped with Warwicks in late 1943, thereby permitting longer patrols over the North Sea. No. 280 was disbanded in June 1946.
