John Lyon was born in Leighton, Huntingdonshire and enlisted at Kettering, Northamptonshire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 13 August 1914. He was killed in action on 10 February 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. With copied m.i.c. showing the award of the 1914 Star and clasp.
