A Great War ‘Tunnelling Company’ D.C.M. awarded to Lance Corporal A. Carrick, Royal Engineers

Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (86502 L. Cpl., 176/Tlg. Co. R.E.), very fine and rare £250-300

D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1916 ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When the enemy exploded a mine he went down at once and rescued a man buried in the debris. He then went into another gallery at great personal risk to see if the sentry had got away. He was severely burnt, but was able to report that all the men were safe.’

Sold with copy of M.I.C. and S.W.B. roll which confirms that Carrick was discharged due to wounds on 18 June 1917.
