Llewellyn Elnet Tanner was killed in action on the night of 1st/2nd November 1944, when returning from a bombing raid over Homberg, Germany. The Lancaster which he was piloting, was hit by enemy ground fire and crashed at Woodbridge, Suffolk, killing four members of the crew and injuring three others. He is buried in Barry (Merthyr) Burial Ground, Glamorganshire.
