Five: Warrant Officer R. Kriehn, East Yorkshire Regiment
General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (434111 Pte., E. York. R.); 1939-45 Star; Africa Star, with 8th Army bar; War Medal; Army L.S. & G.C., G.VI.R., Regular Army (4341118 W.O.Cl.2., E. Yorks.); together with condolence slip for Second War Medals and damaged box of issue addressed to his widow at Devonport, Plymouth, generally nearly extremely fine (5) £130-150

Warrant Officer R. Kriehn enlisted into the East Yorkshire Regiment in April 1928, served Palestine 1936-37, attaining the rank of sergeant in 1939. He joined the 4th battalion in January 1940 and was promoted to Company Sergeant Major. Kriehn saw active service in France in 1940 and again in the Middle East from April 1941 to 1 June 1942 when he was taken prisoner of war along with more than 3000 men, when the 150th Infantry Brigade was virtually wiped out by Rommel in Libya. He was held in in captivity in Italy and then Germany, before his release at the end of the war. He died as the result of a tragic accident which occurred when visiting the home of his sister in Idle, Bradford on 27 March 1949. Sold with comprehensive copied research detail mostly taken from the regimental journal, and including an obituary and a picture of Kriehn in the regimental boxing team.
