Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 4 clasps, Tel-El-Kebir, Suakin 1884, El-Teb-Tamaai, The Nile 1884-85 (Capt., 1/Gord. Highrs.); Order of the Medjidie, 4th class breast badge in silver, gold and enamels; Khedive’s Star 1882, some pitting from the star, otherwise nearly very fine (3) £650-750

Somerset Edward O’Brien Kevill-Davies was born on 28 May 1851, and was appointed Lieutenant, Gordon Highlanders, on 12 November 1873. Promoted to Captain on 18 June 1881, he took part in the Egyptian war of 1882 with the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders, and was present at the battle of Tel-El-Kebir (Medal with Clasp and Khedive’s Star). He served in the Soudan expedition in 1884 and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Tamaai (4th class of the Medjidie, two clasps). In the Nile expedition of 1884-85 he served with the River Column under Major-General Earle (clasp). He was promoted to Major on 26 June 1891, retired in May 1899, and died on 22 July 1935.
