Samuel McGruer was born in Inverness in about 1864. He enlisted in London in August 1885 and went to Egypt at the end of the year. He was invalided home in December 1886, suffering from hypertrophy of the heart and was discharged from the Army at Netley in February 1887. Sold with copy service papers and confirmation of medals.
