Charles Edward Baker Leacock was born in January 1841, and was appointed Lieutenant, R.A., in December 1861. He served with a Steel Mounted Battery throughout the Abyssinian Campaign from 28 December 1867, and was present at the action of Arogee and the capture of Magdala. He retired as Lieutenant Colonel in January 1890.
