Major General George Elliot Voyle was born in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, in 1823 or 1824. He served in the Sutlej Campaign 1845-46, including the affair of Buddiwal and battles of Aliwal and Sobraon (Medal and clasp). He subsequently served with the expedition to Burmah where he was present at the taking of Martaban, and operations in the vicinity and capture of Rangoon, April 1852 (Medal with clasp). He retired in 1872 with the rank of Major General and died at Barnes, London, on 2 October 1883.
