Major-General Reginald William Madoc, C.B. (1959), D.S.O. (1957), O.B.E. (1951), Colonel Commandant Royal Marines 1967-70. Served during World War II in Egypt and Crete, 1940-41 (despatches twice, POW 1941-45); Commanding 42 Commando R.M. in Malaya 1950-51 (despatches, O.B.E.); Commanding 3rd Commando Brigade in Malta, Cyprus, and Port Said, 1955-57 (D.S.O. for Near East operations); ADC to the Queen 1955-57; Major-General Plymouth Group R.M., 1957-59, and Portsmoth Group R.M., 1959-61; retired 1961; Colonel Commandant Royal Marines 1967-70; died 24 May 1986.
