Hugh Lewis Pingo Lester, who was born in December 1898, was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in April 1918. Subsequently gaining entitlement to the rare “Waziristan 1925” clasp for services in No. 20 Squadron, he was advanced to Wing Commander in June 1938 and was placed on the Retired List in December 1943.
