Arthur Ernest Webb was born in Hereford. A Baker by occupation and a member of the 1st Hereford Rifle Volunteers, he attested for service in the Shropshire Light Infantry at Hereford on 17 March 1896, aged 18 years, 11 months. He was transferred to the 20th Hussars in September 1898. He served in India, March 1898-April 1901; then with the 7th Hussars he served in South Africa, November 1901-June 1903. Webb was transferred to the Army Reserve in June 1903 and discharged having completed his period of service on 16 March 1906. Sold with copied service papers and roll extract.
