Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Central India (Cr. Sergt. Fras. Worral, 80th Regt.) a little polished, otherwise very fine
£500-600

Francis Worral enlisted into the 80th Regiment at Manchester on 1 March 1852. After service at the Cape of Good Hope, Worral was detached at Port Victoria until January 1858 when he arrived at Cawnpore. He was soon afterwards detailed as Senior N.C.O. of the Company of his regiment that was to form part of the Camel Corps required for service in Central India. He consequently served with the Camel Corps in the Central India Field Force during April and May 1858, and received a severe contusion at the battle of Calpee on 23 May 1858

Shown as sick at Bhognapore during June, and back with the regiment from July to September, Worral was still not fully recovered from his wound and so was sent to Calcutta to be invalided from the service but died en-route on 16 November 1858. Sold with research.
