Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 2nd issue, Nigeria (Capt. Robert H. T. Burgess, S.R.N.R.) erroneously named on the upper edge, this largely erased and correctly named on the lower edge, good very fine, rare £350-400

Robert Herbert Thomas Burgess lived in Nigeria and in 1937 was a Cadet in the European Reserve Force of the Nigeria Regiment. He was granted a Regular Army Emergency Commission, African Colonial Forces, Movement Control Section, with seniority 15 May 1941 (London Gazette 14 April 1944). Promoted to War Substantive Lieutenant on 1 October 1942, and a Temporary Captain on 15 September 1943, he was a Staff Captain in the Department of the Quartermaster General, 23 August 1945. For his services in the Supplementary Reserve of the Nigeria Regiment, Burgess was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Nigeria) (Nigeria Gazette 24 November 1949) and the Efficiency Decoration (Nigeria) (Nigeria Gazette 9 September 1954

The Efficiency Medal by J. M. A. Tamplin, lists 11 Efficiency Medals (Nigeria) listed between the years 1933 and 1955. Sold with some research.
