Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles

Thomas appears in Thacker’s Indian Directory of 1901, listed as an Assistant Station Master at Londa, part of the South Mahratta Railway Company. Going on to serve in the same capacity at Bellary and Guntakal, he returned to Londa as Station Master in 1905, and would appear to have retired on the amalgamation of his company with the Madras Railway in 1909, by which stage he was based at Bellary Station. Thomas was awarded the (Indian) Volunteer Force long Service Medal in IAO 481 of 6 September 1909; sold with brief research.
