Charles Henry Vevers Green was employed by the Alliance Bank of Simla at its office in Calcutta. He was granted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Agra Volunteer Rifles on 14 December 1900. He was placed on the Supernumerary List in November 1901. On 15 August 1902 he was promoted to Lieutenant in the 2nd (Presidency) Battalion, Calcutta Volunteer Rifles, and was advanced to Captain on 1 January 1911. On the creation of the I.D.F. in 1917 he was appointed to the Supernumerary List of the 10th (Naini Tal) Company, I.D.F. Captain Green was awarded the Indian Volunteer Forces Officers’ Decoration, notified in the Gazette of India of 28 February 1920. With riband bar and copied research.
