As a Cadet, Richard Harold Findon was granted a commission as a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant on probation in the Worcestershire Regiment on 19 December 1916. He was promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on 19 February 1918. He served with the 9th Battalion in the Middle East and during July-September 1918 he took part in the defence of Baku. He was wounded on 14 September 1918. He relinquished his commission on completing his service on 23 February 1920, and retained the rank of Lieutenant. After the war Findon went to Ceylon and was a Planter. He was subsequently a J.P. and an elected representative on the Planting Committee of the Planters’ Association. Serving in the Ceylon Volunteers, he became a R.S.M. in the Ceylon A.S.C. and was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Ceylon) Ceylon Government Gazette 18 May 1934). Sold with copied research.
