Private Michael Hyland, Manchester Regiment, entered the Egypt theatre of war on 10 September 1914. He was disembodied on 8 March 1919. Serving after the war in the 5th (Territorial) Battalion Manchester Regiment, he was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal in A.O. 177 of May 1924. Later still Hyland joined the Royal Engineers and served in the Reserve. As a Sapper he was awarded the Efficiency Medal (Militia) in A.O. 162 of August 1935. With copied Army Order extracts.
