James Holohan was born on 14 May 1864. He enlisted into the Royal Garrison Artillery on 14 January 1884 and was promoted to Serjeant in October 1893. He was awarded the Army L.S & G.C. by Army Order 171 of July 1902. Holohan was discharged on 28 February 1907 and was recommended for the M.S.M. and Annuity on 11 July 1908. With the onset of war, Holohan re-enlisted on 26 February 1915 and served with the Labour Corps. He was awarded the British War and Victory Medals for his wartime services. As C.S.M. with the 163rd (Chinese) Company Labour Corps, he was mentioned in Haig’s despatches of 16 March 1919 (London Gazette 10 July 1919). He was discharged from the Labour Corps on 19 March 1920. He was awarded the M.S.M. with Annuity by Army Order 49 of March 1939. Sold with copied research.
