The royal institute of architects, a large silver medal, by W.Wyon after Chantrey, bust right, reverse elevation of the Tivoli corner of the Bank of England, within a broad additional border, this engraved ‘the royal institute of british architects to john a. r. inglis, for a design for a provincial market hall, mdcccxcvii’, semi matt finish, 72mm, in original leather case (MJP p. 160; cf. BHM 1662; Taylor 106a). Good extremely fine, toned, very scarce (£70-100)

Pinches states the award was awarded annually from 1838, biennially from 1920. The first example seen by the cataloguer, presumably many surviving examples are still in the hands of descendants of the original recipients.
