Buckinghamshire, Eton College, a bronze award medal for House Fives, unsigned [by Birmingham Medal Co], similar, named (Junior 1936, B.D. Barton, J.G. Mackeurtan), 39mm; Eton College, a bronze award medal, unsigned [by W.J. Taylor], centre engraved (Ashburton Shield, July 1863, Etona Victrix), 38mm [2]. First fine to very fine but edge knocked, second good very fine, scarce (£30-40)

Basil David Barton (b. 1920), of Harpenden, Herts, at Eton 1933-9, then Trinity College, Cambridge; served as a Flying Officer in the RAFVR in World War 2.

Justin Graham Mackeurtan (b. 1920), son of Harold Graham Mackeurtan, KC (1884-1942), of Durban, the advocate of the Supreme Court of South Africa; at Eton 1932-9, then a Major in the Voluntary Defence Force, South Africa.

The competition for the Ashburton Shield in 1863 was won by the Eton Shooting XI, captained by C.H. Currey
