Alfred Miles Garnett was born on 27 August 1900. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers on 17 July 1919. He was advanced to Lieutenant in July 1921; Captain in July 1930; and Major in August 1938. He served as Acting Lieutenant-Colonel, December 1940-March 1941, and was appointed Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel on 7 March 1941. With some copied research.
