William Sikes was from the town of Carlow, Co. Carlow, Ireland. He joined the 1st Foot in March 1847 and transferred to the 24th Foot in April 1849. With the unit he saw service as a Sergeant in the supression of the Indian Mutiny. After leaving the service, he re-enlisted in to the 94th Foot at Dublin in September 1862. In March 1867 Sikes transferred on loan to the Royal East Middlesex Militia. Awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. with Gratuity in January 1870; discharged at Woolwich on 29 March 1870. Sold with copied research.
