Sidney Noble enlisted at Southampton. Serving with the 1/4th Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he entered the Asiatic theatre of war on 26 August 1915. He was killed in action in Mesopotamia on 21 January 1916, aged 22 years. His name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq. He was the son of George Edward and Rose Noble of “Durlston”, 10 Kenilworth Road, Southampton.
