13 officers and 212 other ranks of the Royal Highlanders had 5-clasp medals for Egypt. Confirmed on the medal roll which is marked ‘Forfeited on confession of desertion 68/42/133. Restored 68/42/580’.

James Campbell was born at Maybole, Ayrshire, and enlisted into the Royal Highlanders at Glasgow on 4 April 1882, a boilermaker by trade, aged 22 years 10 months. He served in Egypt from August 1882 to April 1886, and thereafter at Malta and Gibraltar until December 1889. He was discharged on 3 April 1894. Sold with copy discharge papers.
