1 officer and 26 other ranks of the 2nd Royal West Kent Regiment served on the Nile in the Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment, of whom the officer and 20 other ranks fought at Abu Klea.

Corporal George Clissold died at Dal, Egypt, on 16 May 1885.
