Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (1261 Pte. J. J. Wright, 1/Leic. R.) pitting from star, otherwise nearly very fine and rare £200-250

Only four medals issued to men of this regiment, for services as signallers during the campaign, three of whom had the clasp for Tel-El-Kebir.

James Joseph Wright was born at Deptford, Kent, and enlisted at Uxbridge on 9 April 1868, aged 17 years 6 months. He received a medal for Afghanistan with clasps for Ali Musjid and Kabul, and Egyptian medal with clasp for Tel-El-Kebir, and Bronze Star from the Khedive of Egypt. He was awarded the medal for long service and good conduct in November 1886, and was discharged on 14 September 1888. Sold with copy discharge papers.
