Sold with small photograph of the recipient wearing uniform and ribbons, original Certificate of Transfer to reserve, Character Certificate, and card box of issue for campaign medals.

Edward O’Neill was born in Co. Wexford in 1898 and enlisted on 24 June 1916, being called up for service with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in December 1916. In fact he served with the 6th Battalion Royal Highlanders in France from mid-1917. He was transferred to the Army Reserve from the 8th Battalion in November 1919, and re-enlisted into the Royal Irish Regiment on 27 June 1921. The regiment was disbanded in 1922 and he was discharged at Portsmouth in July of that year. O’Neill settled in Wexford where he died on 12 May 1973.
