Acting Stoker Petty Officer W. Taylor, R.N., was mentioned in despatches for services aboard H.M.S. Vanoc. A newspaper clipping reads, ‘P/O. William Taylor was mentioned in despatches for devotion to duty during an attack on a convoy. Joining the Royal Navy in 1935, Stoker Taylor has had many thrilling experiences during convoy work. ...’
