Frederick J. Soulsby, a native of Newport, was also entitled to the “Belmont” clasp. Enlisting in the Welsh Regiment in the Great War, he first entered the French theatre of war in early September 1915 and was discharged in September 1917, on which occasion he was awarded the Silver War Badge (No. J. 1013).
