A very rare Crimean War period Fourth Class badge of the Order of St George

Russia,
Imperial Military Order of St George, 4th class breast badge in gold and enamels, circa 1855, 38mm, the suspension ring with partial mark of Pavel Andreev, St Petersburg, very minor chip near point of one reverse arm, otherwise good very fine and very rare for this period £12000-15000

In 1855 the statutes of the Order of St George were revised so that the Fourth Class could only be awarded for Bravery on the Field of Battle.
