Mr A. Mackie served as Chief Engineer aboard the S.S. Sumatra, belonging to the Peninsula & Oriental Steam Navigation Company. He was born in 1857 and served a 10 year apprenticeship before joining P&O in June 1882. He was promoted to Chief Engineer in August 1891, retired on pension in May 1916, and died on 8 May 1923, aged 66. Sold with further details.
