1st The King’s Dragoon Guards Officer’s 1871 Pattern Helmet, a very fine example the gilt brass skull complete with all fittings and gilt chin chain, the frontal plate being a silver gilt and enamelled Garter style beaded star, the motto on a ground of vitreous blue enamel, the centre being the Victorian Royal Crest on a ground of translucent vitreous red enamel, below the star a tri-part floreated scroll in silver, ‘King’s Dragoon Guards’, the inner peaks lined with green skiver and linen over leather sweatband, together with the relevant scarlet horsehair plume this with gilt rose finial, both items with their carrying tins, chin chain backing with stitching faults, the tin for the helmet with dents (4) £1200-1500
