Pair: Second Lieutenant F. Jackson, 2nd/20th Battalion London Regiment, late H.A.C. Infantry, killed in action, 27 September 1918

Francis Jackson was born in Warwick on 20 July 1896. Educated at Leamington School, Warwickshire and a Bank Clerk by occupation, he enlisted into the Honourable Artillery Company Infantry on 5 January 1916. Transferred to the 4th Company, 2nd H.A.C. Infantry on 7 September 1916, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 2 October 1916 and was wounded in action on 6 December 1916, taking a severe gunshot wound to the right thigh. Invalided to England, he eventually recovered and was attached to No.6 O.C.B. Balliol College, Oxford, in November 1917. In April 1918 he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the 25th Battalion London Regiment, attached to the 2nd/20th Battalion. 2nd Lieutenant Jackson was killed in action on 27 September 1918 and was buried in the Ruyaulcourt Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. Sold with copied service papers. Note: several officers with this name in 1918 Army List.
