George Charles Baker, who was born in Winchester, the son of George and Fanny Baker of 56 Sussex Street, was killed in action in France on 2 June 1918, while attached to the 1/17th Battalion, London Regiment - the Poplar & Stepney Rifles. He was 18 years of age and is buried in Franvillers Communal Cemetery Extension.
