M.I.D. London Gazette 13 April 1915. For services aboard H.M.S. Mersey, for services off the coast of Belgium, 17 October to 9 November 1914.

‘Awarded Testimonial on Vellum by Royal Humane Society for helping to save life on 2.10.1900’ (Ref. service papers).

‘On the 3rd May, 1907, A.P. Truscott, an A.B., threw himself from a boat into Portsmouth harbour. Henry Sayce, Petty Officer, H.M.S. Excellent, jumped in and rescued him in an unconscious state’ (Ref. R.H.S. Case No. 35,280). Awarded the R.H.S. Medal in bronze.

Henry Sayce, a Customs Watcher, effected a rescue on the River Mersey at Liverpool on 26 November 1918 (Ref. R.H.S. Case 44,618). For his gallant service he was awarded a clasp to his R.H.S. Medal and a Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Marine Medal in silver.

A total of 219 China 1900 medals, all without clasp, were awarded to the 2nd class cruiser Wallaroo.
