Henry F. Hunt, aged 36 years, Seaman Instructor at the reformatory ship Cornwall, rescued William Turner, aged 15 years, also of the reformatory ship Cornwall. At 6.45 p.m. on 19 July 1883 on the River Thames at Purfleet, the boy was skylarking in the main rigging when he slipped and fell into the river. The salvor was in one of the boats which was practicing and on getting to the spot where the boy sank, dived, and succeeded in bringing him to the surface (Ref. R.H.S. Case No. 22,059).
