John Aitken was born in Cupar, Fife. A Labourer by occupation he attested for service with the Scots Guards at Edinburgh on 29 May 1878, aged 18 years. With the Scots Guards he served in Egypt, July-November 1882. He was discharged on 28 May 1890. Sold with copied service papers.
