Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Elandslaagte, Defence of Ladysmith, Belfast (3917 Cpl. W. Howarth, Manchester Regt.) nearly very fine £240-280

William Howarth was born in Manchester. A Carter by occupation, he attested for the Manchester Regiment on 23 June 1893, aged 19 years, 8 months. With the regiment he served in India, February 1895-November 1897; Malta, December 1897-February 1898; Gibraltar, February 1898-August 1899, and South Africa, August 1899-August 1902. Transferred to the Army Reserve in December 1902, he was discharged on 22 June 1905. Awarded the King’s medal with two clasps in addition to the above. Sold with copied service papers and roll extract.
