Geoffrey Chubb was educated at Leys School and King’s College, Cambridge, by profession a solicitor he also played rugby for Kent and the Old Leysians. He was killed in action on 12 July 1915, aged 46, whilst serving with the 6th Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment and is buried in Tancrez Farm Cemetery, Ploegsteert, France. His eldest son, Francis, had been killed in action less than three months previously on 18 April 1915 whilst serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Yorkshire Light Infantry.
